Envoy, the workplace technology company best known for its iPad-based visitor sign-in app, wanted better visibility into how many employees were actually in the office so it could respond to their needs in real time. Matt Harris, Head of Workplace Technology, was looking for a workplace analytics solution that was easy to install, accurate, and privacy-friendly.

Density provided Depth Processing Units (DPUs) at Envoy’s main San Francisco HQ entrances to anonymously track entries and exits. Using Density’s real-time data, Envoy built a Slack integration to show office occupancy, improved access control so doors only lock when spaces are empty, and used the insights to inform space planning, conference room strategy, and even after-hours support like food orders and building adjustments.
