Global Insurer was dealing with heavy VM placement volatility in its VDI environment because of frequent resource contention. The company relied on VMware DRS to place VMs, but its reactive approach led to a very high number of VM moves during the business day. Global Insurer wanted a way to rebalance the environment more proactively and account for storage, network I/O, CPU, and memory.

Densify applied predictive analytics to the insurer’s VDI environment, using historical workload patterns to forecast the next 30 days and guide VM placement. After Densify began proactive rebalancing, reactive VM moves by DRS during business hours dropped 76.2%. The insurer also programmed Densify’s placement policies into VMware DRS, reducing contention and volatility while improving overall performance.
