A Denodo Technologies Case Study
VTTI is a global leader in independent energy storage, operating over nine million cubic meters of capacity and handling around 11,000 vessel, truck, and train loadings annually. The company faced a growing data challenge: massive volumes of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data from people, processes and IoT that needed real-time, trustworthy access to support predictive maintenance (e.g., pump vibration/failure), arrival forecasting, inventory and transport optimization, and Scope 3 emissions reporting — all while building a scalable data foundation and culture.
VTTI adopted the Denodo Platform as a single data-access layer, quickly publishing a Power BI model in two weeks versus months with competitors and integrating six data sources (including two ERP versions) plus external feeds. The platform enabled operational insights, commercial intelligence, customer-service analytics and the foundation for predictive maintenance and carbon-footprint use cases. Results included faster reporting, centralized governance, improved data quality (3.6% fewer faulty orders), greater operational efficiency through preventive maintenance and risk tracking, and higher customer satisfaction with extended contracts and additional revenue.
