Walmart México (Walmex), the largest Walmart division outside the U.S. with over 2,600 stores, was struggling with a fragmented data landscape that harmed e‑commerce fulfillment and accounting. Delays between online orders and store updates caused stockouts, cancellations and lost revenue; access to the data lake was slow and costly, payment/tax reconciliation was complex (200 payment methods), and thousands of point‑to‑point connections created governance and security headaches.

Beginning in 2019 Walmex deployed the Denodo Platform’s data virtualization to consolidate systems in real time, provide a single entry point and enable self‑service access. The solution delivered real‑time online sales visibility, faster data processing for reporting and testing, tighter governance and large cost savings—benefits that proved especially valuable as requirements grew during the COVID‑19 pandemic.
