Swiss Re Creates 360° Views so Business Users Can Gain Faster Time-to-Value

Swiss Re, a global leader in reinsurance and insurance-based risk transfer, needed to give underwriters, claims managers, data scientists and actuaries fast, real-time access to a complete 360° view of relevant data. Their traditional data warehouse architecture couldn’t deliver all required information quickly or in real time, so the Property & Casualty unit sought an agile integration approach that would feed consuming applications via OData and speed business decision-making.

Swiss Re implemented Denodo’s data virtualization platform to access Oracle, DB2, Excel and web services in real time and expose a unified service layer (OData) to portals and BI tools. The solution enabled rapid integration of multiple sources, real-time transactional views, reduced costly data replication, easier use of external feeds and big-data stores, shorter development times, and simplified data models—delivering faster time-to-value for business users.
