GetSmarter, a digital education brand of 2U, partners with leading universities to deliver premium online short courses. Rapid growth and a mix of cloud services, microservices, SaaS apps and traditional databases left data scattered across many heterogeneous systems, so business users and data scientists lacked a single version of the truth, struggled with multiple connections for reporting, and had no consistent governance or easy path to compliance.

GetSmarter implemented the Denodo Platform as a governed, normalized data virtualization layer, exposing business-context definitions directly or loading them into a reporting warehouse as needed. The platform unified access for reporting, data science and partners, enforced security and compliance (GDPR, PoPI), and eliminated redundant copies of sensitive data.
