Data Virtualization Streamlines the Data Infrastructure at AXA XL

AXA XL, the property-and-casualty and specialty risk division of AXA, faced a complex data challenge: many operational systems and disparate BI tools relied on ETL-driven integration that created excessive data replication, latencies, inconsistent “versions of the truth,” and weak access controls that risked GDPR noncompliance. The company needed a governed, consolidated semantic layer to provide a single, auditable view of enterprise data and enable secure intercompany data transfers with end-to-end lineage.

AXA XL built its Data Ecosystem and Engagement Platform (DEEP) on Azure and deployed the Denodo Platform as a central data virtualization semantic layer. Denodo provided one point of access for consuming apps (ThoughtSpot, MicroStrategy, Power BI, etc.), enforced role-based access and governance, reduced data replication, and accelerated time-to-insight and POCs—delivering faster, consistent, and more secure access to enterprise data.
