ABN AMRO Verzekeringen Advances its Data Strategy with the Denodo Platform and Microsoft Azure

ABN AMRO Verzekeringen, a joint venture of NN Group and ABN AMRO Bank serving over one million customers in the Dutch insurance market, faced a growing need for reliable, frequent, and up-to-date data across many stakeholders and regulators. Their legacy data warehouse relied on slow, heavy ETL processes and monthly reporting, and upcoming end-of-support for tooling plus a cloud migration made it clear they needed a more flexible, modern approach.

Working with Axians, the company implemented a logical data warehouse on the Denodo Platform and Microsoft Azure, using data virtualization and a searchable Data Catalog to provide centrally available, virtualized datasets without duplicating source data. The change enabled self-service BI, faster onboarding of sources, improved governance and authentication, quicker prototyping, and timely operational and commercial insights (daily campaign metrics and SLA monitoring), leading to enthusiastic user adoption and a roadmap to expand the platform further.
