How a Global Top 10 Financial Institution Reduced Compute Wastage and Simplified Analytics

The Leading Global Financial Institution, a top-10 global bank, needed a more efficient way to support enterprise reporting and analytics across multiple divisions while maintaining strict governance and compliance. Using Denodo Technologies as its logical data access layer, the institution was challenged by dozens of separate Databricks clusters for simple dashboard and reporting workloads, which drove up compute costs and operational complexity.

Denodo Technologies implemented Denodo’s Embedded MPP engine as a shared analytical compute layer. In a proof of concept and subsequent redesign, the bank consolidated workloads onto one governed Denodo MPP cluster while keeping Databricks for data preparation and machine learning. The result was near-identical query performance for reporting use cases, reduced compute waste, simpler operations, and up to USD 130,000 in annual Databricks compute savings tied to Denodo-related workloads.
