Tim Hortons, a major Canadian fast-food chain, faced a challenge in servicing its thousands of retail locations due to rapid growth. The company required a new multi-temperature automated warehouse solution that could handle both frozen and ambient products, manage full and mixed-SKU pallets, and be designed for future expansion with minimal operational disruption. They selected vendor Dematic as their design/build partner for this innovative facility.

The solution implemented by Dematic consisted of two automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) facilities, one frozen and one ambient, containing approximately 17,000 storage locations. The system featured pick tunnels for order fulfillment and was controlled by Dematic's Equipment Management System. The result was a highly efficient warehouse capable of 260 moves per hour, with a design that allows for significant future expansion to support Tim Hortons' continued growth.
