Starbucks - Customer Case Study

Starbucks, the global coffee retailer, was facing significant production and distribution challenges due to its expanding product line and the growing number of stores in the western United States. To improve efficiency at its new roasting and distribution facility in Minden, NV, Starbucks partnered with Dematic for an automated solution. The challenge was to reduce delivery times, lower material handling costs, minimize product damage, and improve overall order fulfillment accuracy.

Dematic implemented an integrated software and conveyance system, including a high-speed material handling system capable of three different throughput rates to meet variable demand. The solution utilized Dematic's Equipment Management Software (EMS) to provide real-time control and diagnostics. This resulted in increased capacity to support store growth, minimized product damage, and reduced labor and utility costs through flexible throughput rates, successfully achieving Starbucks' key objectives.
