SKC, Inc. built a new facility to manufacture polyester film and required a robust system to handle the storage and retrieval of its finished product. The vendor, Dematic, provided an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) to meet this challenge, which included automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and an equipment management software.

Dematic's solution featured a high-density ASRS with over 3,000 storage locations, three storage/retrieval machines, and five AGVs, all managed by its Dematic EMS software. This resulted in a highly efficient operation capable of shipping over 60 pallets per hour, optimized floor space, and provided built-in redundancy and scalability for future expansion.
