Modine Manufacturing Company partnered with Dematic to optimize its supply chain for delivering cooling modules to Daimler/Chrysler. The challenge was to assemble and ship these complex modules in the exact build sequence required by the automotive manufacturer, which demanded a highly efficient and responsive build-to-order process to reduce inventory and meet stringent quality and delivery schedules.

Dematic implemented a comprehensive automated system featuring a flexible assembly line, robotic leak testing, a vision check station, and a double-deep automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). This solution allowed Modine to decouple its two-shift assembly operation from its three-shift shipping schedule, dramatically improving plant efficiency and quality control. The results included significant inventory reduction, cost savings for the customer through the application of Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs), and the reliable delivery of modules in precise sequence.
