SFS unimarket AG, a leading Swiss provider of fastening systems, tools, and fittings, faced the challenge of centralizing its small stores and standardizing its IT environment up to the control level of its warehouse automation. The company partnered with vendor Dematic to implement a new logistics system, seeking to manage complex automated processes directly from within its SAP systems and create a template for a future global rollout.

Dematic implemented a pioneering solution using its SubDriver and Multishuttle automated compact warehouse system, which was directly controlled from within SAP EWM/MFS for the first time. This provided a fully-integrated, homogenous SAP IT environment from the ERP level down to the control level. The solution resulted in a 30 percent increase in efficiency for SFS and formed the successful template for the company's global warehouse standardization.
