Lifetime Brands, a distributor of housewares, faced the challenge of consolidating three manual distribution operations into a single, highly efficient facility. They partnered with Dematic to engineer and install conveying, picking, and sortation equipment for their new Robbinsville, NJ distribution center, with a key goal of optimizing energy usage while maintaining high reliability.

Dematic implemented an energy-efficient solution featuring conveying systems and high-speed RS Series sliding shoe sorters. This system, controlled by Dematic's SortDirector WCS, included a specialized energy conservation module that automatically powered down unused sections. The results were significant, including a 35% reduction in energy usage, system uptime of over 99%, and a 3.75% reduction in distribution expenses as a percentage of sales over five years.
