Coca-Cola Amatil, an Australian beverage distributor supplying 14,000 outlets, sought to optimize its mixed pallet order picking to increase efficiency, productivity, and safety at its Eastern Creek distribution center. To address this challenge, the company collaborated with Dematic on a solution.

Dematic implemented its patented FreePick Maximiser solution, which combines specialized software and an ergonomic goods-to-person module. The software intelligently calculates and re-sequences orders to allow pickers to fulfill two orders simultaneously, drastically reducing physical handling. This solution from Dematic resulted in a productivity rate of over 1400 picks per hour, a 20% reduction in physical case picking, and over a third of orders being ready for dispatch immediately after processing.
