Case Study: Chicago Tribune improves mailroom accuracy and inventory control with Dematic MTC and ASRS

A Dematic Case Study

Preview of the Chicago Tribune Case Study

Chicago Tribune - Customer Case Study

The Chicago Tribune, a major newspaper, faced challenges with its obsolete mailroom equipment at its Freedom Center, which threatened production deadlines and limited revenue growth from targeted advertising. To address this, they partnered with Dematic to implement its Material Tracking & Control Software (MTC) and an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) to modernize their material handling processes.

The Dematic solution provided real-time visibility and control over inventory movement across the multi-floor facility. The high-density ASRS stored over 4,000 pallets, while the MTC software directed operators via RF scanning to ensure accurate, just-in-time delivery of inserts, minimizing damage and floor space usage. This resulted in increased operator accountability, a reduction in credits to advertisers, and enhanced proof-of-delivery accountability for the Chicago Tribune.
