A Dematic Case Study

Canadian Tire - Customer Case Study

Canadian Tire, a major Canadian retail chain, faced the challenge of increasing throughput in its existing Brampton distribution center without the option of expanding the facility's footprint. Their objectives were to boost productivity, decrease labor and order cancellations, and maximize storage capacity while reducing product damage. To meet these goals, they partnered with vendor Dematic for an automated material handling solution.

Dematic implemented a system utilizing laser-guided automated guided vehicles (AGVs) with turret fork attachments to operate in the facility's very narrow aisles. This solution, which required no modifications to the existing racking, worked alongside the existing automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). The result was a significant decrease in product and facility damage, a drop in misdirected pallets and cancelled orders, and increased productivity, all achieved without any additional labor or facility modifications.
