Anheuser-Busch, the world's largest brewer, sought to improve customer response times and reduce its warehouse operating costs. To address this challenge, the company partnered with vendor Dematic to evaluate and implement a High Density Storage (HDS) solution at its Columbus, Ohio brewery.

Dematic implemented an automated system featuring Eagle AGVs that handle two pallets simultaneously and dual-load Storage and Retrieval Machines in a rack-supported structure. This solution provided Anheuser-Busch with a 12,936-pallet capacity and a throughput of 680 pallets per hour. The results included vastly reduced truck turnaround times, the ability to turn the entire warehouse in under two days, greatly reduced operating costs, and highly responsive customer service.
