DaySpring Achieves Big Sales & Operations Planning Improvements with Demand Works

DaySpring Cards, Inc., a Hallmark-owned leader in Christian greeting cards, gifts and stationery, was struggling to plan demand and operations for roughly 300,000 product–customer combinations (about 7,000 active products) using sprawling spreadsheets. Management wanted to increase inventory turns and improve coordination across sales, production, procurement and finance, and selected Demand Works’ Smoothie® Server as the integrated planning technology to address those needs.

Demand Works implemented Smoothie® Server in a staged, product-line rollout with initial training and integration support, after which DaySpring’s team completed the broader deployment. The solution cut boxed-cards inventory by 65% (from about 2 million units to 700,000) while maintaining over 98% in-stock service, reduced forecasting headcount to two full‑time planners for 300,000 forecasts, completed a global roll-out and delivered significant financial and operational improvements.
