Thailand’s GoldCity Shoe - Customer Case Study

Thailand’s GoldCity Shoe, a 57‑year‑old Thai footwear manufacturer and retailer selling about $25M annually and producing nearly seven million pairs a year, was struggling to forecast demand by style, color and size using Excel. To replace slow, error-prone spreadsheet processes for thousands of SKUs, GoldCity purchased Demand Solutions Forecast Management (and later added Demand Solutions Requirements Planning) in 2010.

Demand Solutions implemented forecast management to create style‑level baselines and used its Scaling feature to prorate forecasts down to color and size, with planners making manual adjustments in the system for replenishment. As a result, Thailand’s GoldCity Shoe moved from forecasting roughly 5% of SKUs to all SKUs, improved SKU forecast accuracy by 10–50%, reduced safety stock by 8% (≈10 million THB / ~USD 1M), increased sales volume, and lowered under‑ and over‑stock on new launches.
