Sophisticated Forecasting Tools manage Ceres Beverages Growth

Ceres Beverage, a South African producer and exporter of premium fruit juices with about 4,300 SKUs shipping to 80 countries, needed more sophisticated demand forecasting as it expanded into new geographies and product categories. Already a Demand Solutions customer since 2000, Ceres sought a modern engine able to handle weekly, monthly and quarterly time buckets and more granular forecasts across customers, pack sizes and rebate groups, leading to implementation of Demand Solutions DSX in late 2011.

Demand Solutions implemented DSX, delivering Microsoft-style interfaces familiar to users and flexible configuration (including on-the-fly data streams) with minimal training. The DSX rollout cut the forecasting cycle to four–five hours, sped the monthly process by about six days, enabled weekly/daily updates for replenishment, improved statistical forecast accuracy (DSX often outperforms collaborators), and feeds results into a data warehouse and Excel-based collaboration — benefits Demand Solutions expects to support Ceres for another decade.
