Siemens Healthineers Boosts Forecast Accuracy while Plotting an Upgrade to Demand Solutions Dsx

Siemens Healthineers, a global leader in medical imaging and laboratory diagnostics, faced a tight deadline to migrate its In Vitro Diagnostics division off a homegrown supply chain planning system while ensuring SAP compatibility and global roll-out. After evaluating options, the U.S. team chose Demand Solutions and implemented Demand Solutions DS1 (Forecast Management, Requirements and Replenishment Planning), going live within six months to replace the legacy tool.

Demand Solutions configured nine DS1 instances worldwide, bringing advanced capabilities (26 forecasting algorithms, SKU- and lot-level visibility) that lifted forecast accuracy from about 80% to 85–87%, cut diagnostic scrap by 10–15%, and—in Brazil—delivered a 60% improvement in replenishment planning accuracy, a 20% overall forecast gain and a 57% reduction in back orders. Siemens Healthineers is now planning a move to Demand Solutions DSX to consolidate onto a single global database and improve expiration-date planning.
