Rochester Gauges, a multinational manufacturer of liquid level gauges with facilities in the U.S., Mexico, Belgium and China, struggled with visibility into demand and lacked true item-level forecasting—relying instead on high-level, dollar-based forecasts that led to excess stock, mistimed material purchases and late sales orders. To address this, Rochester Gauges implemented Demand Solutions Forecast Management.
Demand Solutions Forecast Management enabled unit-level forecasting, easy incorporation of customers’ forecasts and a foundation for S&OP, allowing Rochester Gauges to better align procurement and production. As a result, inventory costs fell by just over $1 million and forecast accuracy jumped from 23% to an average of 65% (peaking at 75%), improving on-time deliveries, material allocation and overall customer service.
