Paper Island - Customer Case Study

Paper Island, a UK greeting card and giftware manufacturer selling to more than 700 independent retailers and major chains, faced recurring stock-outs at a primary customer caused by a manual ticket-based replenishment process. To fix lost sales and streamline store-level inventory planning, Paper Island turned to Demand Solutions and implemented Demand Solutions Retail Planning (building on their existing Forecast Management and Requirements Planning systems).

Demand Solutions implemented Retail Planning in a 10-day pilot and then rolled the automated, POS-driven replenishment to 350 stores, eliminating many stock-outs and improving warehouse scheduling into a weekly cycle. The results were measurable: like-for-like sales of the Fizzy Moon brand were 44% higher in auto-replenished stores versus non-auto stores, Christmas-season sales rose about 34% year-over-year, overall sales increased by more than 30%, and Paper Island earned Managing Automation’s PM 100 best-in-class award.
