Assa Abloy Opens the Door to Global Cross-Plant Visibility

ASSA ABLOY, the world’s largest supplier of intelligent lock and security solutions, struggled with decentralized planning after rapid growth and acquisitions: planners managed thousands of SKUs with pen and paper and multiple ERP systems, lacking consistent MRP and demand planning across plants. To standardize planning and gain cross‑plant visibility ahead of a Microsoft Dynamics AX rollout, ASSA ABloy selected Demand Solutions and its Forecast Management and Requirements Planning capabilities.

Demand Solutions implemented a centralized planning platform that exposed and helped clean poor master data, applied product stratification and ABC analysis to remove obsolete SKUs, and automated order calculations and posting into Microsoft Dynamics AX. As a result, ASSA ABLOY gained unified forecasts and inventory visibility, reduced excess inventory and cash tied up through smaller, more accurate order batches, and—per ASSA ABLOY estimates—saved planners about 20% of their time each week in the Scandinavian region.
