Deluxe worked with a leading utility company operating in a deregulated market, where customers can switch providers and acquiring new households is highly competitive. The company was using single-bureau credit data for prescreen acquisition mail and credit appends, but could only identify about 40% of available customers and needed a better way to find more credit-qualifying prospects.
Deluxe implemented a tri-bureau data approach to match utility households to the most credit-worthy individuals in each home. This increased the match rate to 80%, roughly doubling the company’s prior results, and two tests showed nearly 2x to 3x the reach of the previous approach. Deluxe also helped reduce remails, lower costs, and drive more conversions and revenue.
