AT&T rolls out Deluxe Payment Exchange (DPX) for accounts payable

AT&T, the multinational telecommunications and media company, needed a faster, more secure way to handle accounts payable payments at massive scale. It was processing millions of invoices and payments each year and relying on traditional paper checks, which added days to the payment cycle, increased fraud risk, and drove up costs for mailing, check pulls, and overnight deliveries. Deluxe provided the Deluxe Payment Exchange eChecks solution to address these issues.

With Deluxe Payment Exchange, AT&T replaced paper checks with eChecks that could be created in seconds and delivered by email the same day, integrating through API into its existing systems. The rollout reduced mail float, overnight fees, and internal processing time, and AT&T said the implementation took about three months and was low cost and smooth. AT&T had previously processed about 600,000 paper checks per year for accounts payable, and Deluxe’s solution enabled the company to move the majority of those payments digitally, with plans to expand to all 120,000 suppliers.
