A Deltek Case Study
CNSI, an IT systems services provider founded in 1994 that supports government and healthcare clients, experienced rapid growth from about $20M to $76M in revenue and moved into prime federal contracting. That expansion exposed the limits of its Peachtree-based accounting processes, which lacked project-level controls, auditability and the scalability needed for government contract accounting.
Around 2000 CNSI implemented Deltek Costpoint (fully live in six months) with Deltek Time Collection and materials management to handle core accounting and project tracking for 50–60 active projects. Automation and single-point data entry cut manual effort (saving about seven days/month), sped billing by four days, reduced DSO by 10–12 days, avoided roughly three to four full‑time staffing costs (~$160K/year), and improved traceability, error prevention and cross-team financial visibility.
