Case Study: Goodrich achieves a 27-day aircraft D-check turnaround with Deltek Open Plan

A Deltek Case Study

An Airplane Reborn – Goodrich beats competition using Deltek Open Plan

Goodrich, a major provider of comprehensive aircraft maintenance, faced the challenge of completing complex “D-check” overhauls that comprise 2,500 sub-jobs across 20 work groups operating 24/7. The overhaul process previously took 37 days, with roughly half the work scope unclear until day four, so Goodrich set a goal to cut turnaround time to 27 days and improve scheduling, priorities, and resource allocation.

Goodrich implemented Deltek Open Plan and formed a dedicated Open Plan team to link sub-jobs, prioritize critical activities, let crews provide duration estimates, and automate notifications and resource assignments. The change reduced turnaround to the target 27 days, cut some task spans by as much as 50% without adding manpower, sped follow-up and resource allocation, and delivered faster outcomes in practice (for example, a job originally scheduled for 13 days was completed in 10 despite added scope).
