Case Study: Port Kembla Coal Terminal achieves higher throughput and stockyard utilization with DELMIA Quintiq

A DELMIA Quintiq Case Study

Preview of the Port Kembla Coal Terminal Case Study

Port Kembla Coal Terminal (PKCT) is a coal-exporting facility that services two of Australia's richest coal reserves, the southern and western coalfields of New South Wales

Port Kembla Coal Terminal needed better visibility and control over its coal terminal planning, especially around bottlenecks in the stockyard and the impact of maintenance outages on capacity. It worked with DELMIA Quintiq to improve planning for inbound and outbound flows, scheduling, and capacity constraints.

DELMIA Quintiq implemented a planning solution that automated key planning functions, embedded shared knowledge, and provided decision support with scenario “what-if” planning. Within six months, Port Kembla Coal Terminal reported improved terminal throughput, about 10% greater stockyard usage, better visibility of maintenance impacts, and shorter coal ship queues.
