Case Study: Lufthansa Cargo achieves streamlined, paperless cargo planning and improved resource efficiency with DELMIA Quintiq

A DELMIA Quintiq Case Study

Preview of the Lufthansa Cargo Case Study

Lufthansa Cargo - Customer Case Study

Lufthansa Cargo, a global air‑freight carrier serving more than 300 destinations, faced the challenge of safely and efficiently moving millions of tons of cargo each year while increasing resource efficiency, improving workload transparency and cutting processing times—particularly at its primary Frankfurt hub handling 2.2 million tons annually. As part of its digital transformation, the company needed a centralized, modern planning system to replace manual processes and better manage peaks in demand.

Working with Ab Ovo, Lufthansa Cargo implemented DELMIA Quintiq to centralize forecasting, planning, steering and monitoring for inbound and outbound operations. The solution automates ULD prioritization, provides seven‑day forecast planning and 24‑hour scheduling views across 40 distribution targets, and surfaces real‑time KPIs; the result is optimized resources, a steadier workload, improved punctuality and customer satisfaction, and an annual saving of about 90,000 sheets of paper, with plans to expand the platform to other stations.
