The Citizens Bank Gets Office 365 Federation and Meets GLBA Requirements with Centrify Identity Service

The Citizens Bank of Philadelphia, a 23-branch community bank founded in 1908, needed to move to Office 365 without the overhead and cost of Microsoft AD FS while maintaining GLBA compliance. IT wanted single sign-on, secure password management, and fast provisioning/deprovisioning so departing employees immediately lost access to customer data—without adding significant new infrastructure or administrative burden.

Following a recommendation from SoftwareONE, the bank implemented Centrify Identity Service for Office 365 federation, SAML-based SSO and multi-factor authentication, using cloud groups to quickly assign licenses. The phased rollout centralized account management across Office 365 and other apps, reduced password sprawl, automated deprovisioning to meet GLBA requirements, improved remote access security with MFA, and gave the bank access to thousands of pre-integrated cloud apps with minimal IT impact.
