OpenX, a global programmatic advertising marketplace founded in 2008, faced growing security risks as rapid expansion left a mixed PC/Mac environment with no consistent controls. The IT team needed to consolidate identity into Active Directory, enable disk encryption (Apple FileVault) and reliable backups, and deploy 802.1X network security across thousands of endpoints.

OpenX implemented Centrify to join Macs to Active Directory, deploy an agent and a setup script that applies local policies, provisions FileVault backups to company servers with an institutional recovery key, and automatically configures 802.1X. The rollout scaled from 200 to 400 Mac users, streamlined day‑one onboarding, saved significant IT time, and ensured encrypted local data remains inaccessible if a Mac is lost or stolen.
