Medical provider switches to Thycotic Secret Server for reliable and automated privileged account management

MEDNAX, a national provider of neonatal, maternal-fetal and pediatric subspecialty services with over 2,200 physicians and roughly 500 remote sites, needed a reliable way to manage hundreds of local admin and service accounts across locations with poor or intermittent connectivity and no onsite IT. Their original password management tool was sluggish, unintuitive, and failed to perform core functions like automated password changes, leaving privileged account management incomplete.

After a 30-day proof-of-concept, MEDNAX deployed Thycotic Secret Server—installed in a day and fully rolled out in two weeks—using Discovery, Check Out/Require Comment, session recording and QRadar SIEM integration. The new solution delivered reliable automated password management, simpler licensing, improved HIPAA/SOX controls, and reduced ongoing administration to about 4–8 hours per week, achieving in two weeks what the previous tool couldn’t in two years.
