Barrett Steel takes control of its data with Secret Server

Barrett Steel, the UK’s largest independent British steel stockholder, faced a growing risk around its "crown jewel"—business data—after migrating from Lotus Notes to Office 365, adopting SaaS and AWS, and operating across hybrid environments. Their legacy access system couldn’t enforce the granular, auditable privileged access controls needed to protect wide‑reaching accounts and meet increasing regulatory and operational demands.

By deploying Delinea Secret Server, Barrett Steel gained a single pane of glass for role‑based access control, granular privileges, and full auditing—down to who viewed a secret, when and from which IP. The company implemented password and access lifecycle controls, two‑factor authentication, a high‑availability setup across two data centres with HSM integration, and rolled out 30 licenses across IT, development and finance, improving data integrity checks, auditability and overall security posture.
