America First Increases Security Posture through Authenticated Scanning with Secret Server

America First Credit Union, founded in 1939 and serving over 600,000 members across 104 branches in Utah and Nevada, needed a stronger security posture to protect members and meet compliance. With 1,000–2,000 systems at its main campus, the IT team required authenticated vulnerability scanning to fully assess network risks and also had new mandates to rotate Active Directory and service account passwords more frequently, so they sought an on‑premises password vault with automated password changing.

They implemented Thycotic Secret Server to automatically rotate AD and service account passwords and integrate with QualysGuard for authenticated scans. The integration made admins more willing to grant secure, on‑prem access to QualysGuard, which revealed 33 vulnerabilities on a test PC that unauthenticated scans had missed—enabling targeted remediation. Secret Server also keeps credentials in‑house, logs usage, restricts access, and supports compliance through automatic rotation and auditing.
