SEPA cuts permit consultation publishing to around 10 minutes with Delib

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) faced a manual, time-consuming, and error-prone process for managing its public permit consultations. For each new consultation, staff had to clone and manually edit an old one, a repetitive task that was unsustainable for an organisation managing dozens of permits. To solve this, SEPA partnered with vendor Delib to utilize their Citizen Space platform and custom activity types service.

Delib built a suite of custom templates in Citizen Space that automated SEPA's permit workflow. The solution automatically populates content based on permit type, calculates consultation dates, and updates public-facing status pages without manual intervention. This reduced the time to publish a consultation from a lengthy manual process to around ten minutes, significantly lowering the risk of error and creating a cleaner, more consistent experience for the public. Delib's work has transformed a critical process for SEPA, with more templates planned.
