A Delib Case Study
The Scottish Climate Assembly, commissioned by the Scottish Government, faced the challenge of gathering inclusive public input on tackling the climate emergency. They needed a way to extend the conversation beyond the 100 assembly members to allow all Scottish citizens to have a stake in the proceedings. They turned to vendor Delib and their discursive tool, Dialogue, to create an online platform for this purpose.
Delib's Dialogue platform provided a structured space for the public to submit, comment on, and rate ideas that mirrored the assembly's core question. This process generated 235 well-considered ideas and hundreds of comments, which were then assessed for feasibility and presented to the official assembly members. The solution demonstrably widened participation, feeding public opinion directly into the assembly's recommendations and strengthening its commitments to openness and inclusivity.
