Liverpool City Council engages residents on £90 million savings with Delib

Liverpool City Council faced the significant challenge of delivering £90 million in budget savings, which was part of a total £420 million in cuts since 2010. These large reductions would have a major impact on city services, so the council needed to run a wide-reaching public consultation to understand resident priorities. They turned to Delib and used their Budget Simulator product to help residents engage with the complex financial data.

Delib's Budget Simulator allowed citizens to try balancing the budget themselves, suggesting where savings could be made. The solution was highly successful, attracting 3,500 visitors and receiving over 500 fully completed responses. It provided the council with valuable insights, including that 43% of participants were willing to accept a council tax increase to protect services for the most vulnerable. The results from Delib's platform provided Liverpool City Council with actionable data to inform future decision-making.
