A Delib Case Study
Hackney Council faced the challenge of consulting on new 'active travel' measures, a UK government initiative to promote walking and cycling. Following initial public opposition to such projects nationwide, the government made consultation a requirement for funding. Hackney Council used Delib's Citizen Space platform to run these necessary, highly localized online consultations.
Delib's Citizen Space provided an integrated solution, allowing Hackney to embed maps, images, and high-quality media to clearly explain proposals. This approach yielded strong public support, with the first consultation on a 'School Street' scheme showing around 80% of respondents in favor. The streamlined system enabled Hackney to efficiently collate feedback and expand the successful program, with the council now aiming to extend it to every primary school in the borough.
