Case Study: Bristol City Council centralizes citizen engagement with Delib Citizen Space

A Delib Case Study

Preview of the Bristol City Council Case Study

Bristol City Council runs a 1,400-person panel and 60-person assembly with Delib

Bristol City Council sought to involve its citizenry in creative democratic exercises, specifically wanting to run both a citizens' panel for ongoing engagement and a citizens' assembly for focused discussion. The challenge was finding a single platform that could host both methods, make it easy for citizens to participate, and provide visibility into the democratic process. They turned to vendor Delib and its Citizen Space platform to address this.

Delib implemented Citizen Space to host both the large citizens' panel and the smaller, time-limited citizens' assembly through one central hub. This provided a convenient way for admins to manage both forms of engagement and created an accessible public archive of results. The solution gave the council's democratic process greater visibility and accountability, successfully resulting in the assembly making 17 recommendations for the city's Covid-19 recovery.
