California Department of Health Care Services improves nearly 1 million annual newborn screenings with Delegata Corporation

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) faced a challenge with its Genetic Disease Branch's mission-critical newborn screening program. The existing data processing system was no longer efficient or flexible enough to meet its expanding needs, which included performing nearly a million annual tests where time is of the essence. DHCS partnered with Delegata to provide project management support and oversight for the highly visible initiative to deploy a more automated replacement system, named the Screening Information System (SIS).

Delegata implemented a project management solution by closely working with DHCS management and their integration vendor, incorporating Delegata’s Diamond Methodology and other industry standards. This approach resulted in highly integrated processes for change management, configuration control, and risk management that were customized for the SIS project. As a result, Delegata significantly enhanced the DHCS PMO's ability to comply with reporting processes and delivered extensive, fully compliant best practice documents, setting the stage for the successful implementation of the new system.
