Case Study: Standaard Boekhandel boosts retail resilience with delaware Belgium

A delaware BeLux Case Study

Preview of the Standaard Boekhandel Case Study

How Standaard Boekhandel boosted its retail resilience

Standaard Boekhandel, a Belgian bookstore chain with about 150 stores, wanted to strengthen its omnichannel retail experience and modernize its digital infrastructure to meet rising customer expectations for personal service, fast delivery, and convenience. Working with delaware BeLux, the company began a digital transformation in 2017 centered on a new platform using Sitecore, Virto Commerce, cash register integration, Azure cloud, and a system that could handle 14 million products.

delaware BeLux implemented an intuitive ecommerce and content management setup plus a customized master data management solution to create “golden records” from multiple supplier feeds, improving search and product discovery. The new platform handled the surge when online orders tripled overnight during the pandemic without disruption, and Standaard Boekhandel could quickly update store and pickup information on its own. The partnership continues today, with delaware BeLux supporting new features, data optimization, and future B2B and machine-learning initiatives.
