Case Study: UZ Gent improves patient care and hospital efficiency with delaware BeLux

Ghent’s University Hospital can focus on the patient

UZ Gent, a large university hospital, faced the challenge of optimizing its complex logistics and warehousing system to ensure the constant availability of medical and non-medical supplies. The hospital needed to manage thousands of items efficiently with limited storage space and fluctuating demand, all while reducing the time staff spent on administrative tasks to maintain a focus on patient care. They partnered with delaware BeLux to implement a solution.

delaware BeLux implemented a SAP-based solution, including Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), to create an efficient, just-in-time supply chain. This digital transformation eliminated paper-based ordering and provided managers with superior insight into stock levels. The results were significant, including substantially reduced operating costs, a major reduction in inventory days, and a futureproof system for tracking medical devices. The successful collaboration was recognized with an SAP Quality Award in 2016.
