A delaware BeLux Case Study
Bekaert, a global leader in steel wire transformation, faced challenges with the high cost and time delays of deploying its specialized engineers globally to conduct on-site feasibility studies for new production installations. They partnered with vendor delaware BeLux to explore a solution using Microsoft's HoloLens mixed reality technology to optimize this process.
The solution implemented by delaware involved creating a custom HoloLens app using the Unity 3D engine. This app allowed on-site personnel to perform detailed 3D scans of a factory floor, which remote expert engineers could then view and annotate with digital instructions, providing real-time, hands-free guidance. While the case study notes the acquired data is immensely valuable, it specifically highlights that the solution was developed to increase efficiency and lower travel costs for Bekaert.
