INDOT eliminates data duplication across 11,000 miles of roads with Deighton Associates

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), a long-time user of Deighton Associates' dTIMS software, faced a challenge with data synchronization. INDOT's dTIMS and Esri Roads and Highways systems operated independently, leading to inconsistent route network definitions and difficulties for users accessing necessary data.

Deighton Associates developed an Enterprise Integration Service to create a bi-directional link between the systems. This solution established Esri Roads and Highways as the authoritative Linear Referencing System (LRS), allowing dTIMS to consume network updates from it automatically. This integration, implemented by Deighton, eliminated manual data transfers and duplication, ensuring a single, consistent representation of each road across both platforms.

INDOT
