City of Brampton compares risk across 1,730 km of roads and 300+ bridges with Deighton Associates

The City of Brampton, which manages a network of 1,730 km of roads and over 300 bridges, faced the challenge of equitably comparing the benefits between its pavement and bridge asset classes. To address this, the city worked with vendor Deighton Associates to incorporate new performance metrics for risk and asset value into their asset management system using the dTIMS platform.

Deighton Associates implemented a solution where a Probability of Failure and a Consequence of Failure matrix were developed for both pavements and bridges. These were combined within dTIMS to produce a comparable Risk Score out of 25 for every asset. This allowed the City of Brampton to objectively compare risk across asset classes and use it as a function in optimization and cross-asset analysis, resulting in a more equitable and objective asset management system.
