Concordia University’s Faculty of Arts and Science needed a better way to manage rapidly growing file data across its VMware and SAN environment. With storage capacity under pressure and concerns about hazardous files like .exe downloads, the team turned to DefendX and its Control-QFS (Quota and File Sentinel) solution to gain visibility and control over what users and departments were storing.

DefendX implemented Control-QFS to enforce file-type and file-size policies, block unwanted or risky files, and provide detailed analytics for user- and department-level storage management. The results included a 33% reduction in SAN consumption, improved data protection, more predictable growth, and lower future storage costs through automation and better storage utilization.
