Case Study: Deutsche Bahn achieves consistent multilingual communication with DeepL API

A DeepL Case Study

Deutsche Bahn connects 320,000 employees with DeepL-powered translation

Deutsche Bahn (DB), Europe's largest railway operator, faced the challenge of enabling clear communication across its massive, multilingual workforce of over 320,000 employees. A generic machine translation solution was insufficient due to the need for accurate corporate and industry-specific terminology. To solve this, DB partnered with vendor DeepL and utilized its API to build a custom internal translation platform.

The solution, DB Corporate Translate powered by the DeepL API, was customized using over 30,000 entries from DB's terminology database integrated via DeepL's glossary feature. This ensured consistent and accurate translations. The platform is now used by hundreds of employees daily and has been integrated into eight internal applications, significantly improving cross-lingual collaboration and operational consistency.
